Brief description of the organization
YouSea Institute is a non-profit organization dedicated to the protection and restoration of marine biodiversity, with a special focus on seabed ecosystems and the sustainable coexistence of communities with the sea.
Contribution to the RISTANC project
YouSea Institute contributes its expertise in marine biodiversity education and community engagement to the RISTANC project. The Institute leads Task 4.3 (Ocean Literacy Activities), where it is responsible for the development and implementation of all educational activities, including interactive school workshops for children, coastal clean-up campaigns combined with public awareness initiatives, exhibitions at municipal events, and the design of informational boards for public spaces across participating municipalities.
In addition, YouSea co-leads Task 2.1 (Local Engagement Group and Trust-Building) together with PINA. Within this task, it facilitates participatory stakeholder mapping, trust-building processes, and the establishment of an inclusive local engagement group to ensure that diverse voices actively contribute to shaping the project’s transdisciplinary research outcomes.
