Rethinking How We Manage and Care for the Sea
RISTANC (Research and Innovation Cooperation for Sustainability and Reaching EU Missions Objectives) is a Horizon Europe project exploring overlooked social and governance innovations and opportunities for restoring marine ecosystems in the Northern Adriatic. The project runs an experiment at the local level and turns it into a proposal for a long-term systemic solution under the EU’s Mission Ocean.
A glimpse into the ongoing work of RISTANC
What RISTANC does?
RISTANC aims to contribute towards the EU Mission Ocean by focusing on the opportunities and challenges towards it in the Slovenian sea.
The project brings together municipalities, universities, NGOs and research institutes to address concrete challenges facing the Slovenian sea and the wider Adriatic region. Through mission-oriented transdisciplinary collaboration, RISTANC creates spaces where different forms of knowledge — scientific, local, institutional and experiential — come together to co-design practical and feasible solutions.
