Demonstrative solutions
From among various challenges in the Northern Adriatic, RISTANC will select two to offer solutions for them. These two demonstrative solutions will offer practical examples of potential innovations in collaboration, governance and action for change.
Third party funding
The funding is intended for local communities, civil society organisations, artists, innovators, entrepreneurs, researchers, and other grassroots actors who wish to test new approaches to marine restoration, pollution reduction, sustainable blue economy practices, ocean literacy, or community-based innovation.
Through the open call, RISTANC will support 5–8 selected projects, providing financial support for experimental initiatives that respond to real challenges related to the sea. Proposed actions may include pilot activities, art–science collaborations, citizen science initiatives, community-driven experiments, or other innovative micro-level interventions aligned with Mission Ocean objectives.
Beyond financial support, selected projects will receive mentoring, guidance and structured support to strengthen their impact and enable learning and knowledge exchange across initiatives and the wider RISTANC network.
This funding scheme is designed to mobilise bottom-up innovation, expand the regional innovation ecosystem, and generate practical insights that can inform future policy and research at local, national, and EU levels.
The Open Call will be published on this website. Comprehensive information on eligibility criteria, application procedures, evaluation process, and timelines will be provided at launch.
Art & Creativity
RISTANC integrates art into its research activities and as a dissemination approach. Art–science interventions will engage, provoke, foster reflection or build deeper connections with the sea.
Learning & education
To not remain a one-off experiment, but to build long-term impact from it, RISTANC will be integrating transdisciplinarity into the postgraduate study programmes. A master and PhD programme will be enhanced for transdisciplinarity-relevant knowledge and skills and a new micro-credential course will be developed. Moreover, younger learners (ages 6–15) will be engaged through ocean literacy initiatives.
